you got 448,300 views!!

it went viral

Ok, maybe you didn’t quite have a banger go off this week (sorry !!) but I wanted to talk to you about virality this week.

It’s not always a good thing. I made this mistake early on and I’ve seen it cause some creators to completely quit the game.

Before talking about going viral - I just wanted to say that it’s been really fun to be back writing to you again these last few weeks!

It has had a good response (so far) and more importantly… I’m enjoying it! It’s been an nice way to keep a conversation going every week with you.

It’s not luck…

I talked about how to go viral in our gaming creator accelerator program. One of the lessons we cover in the program is that “going viral” isn’t a strategy.

If we are trying to go viral with every video we make, we are setting ourselves up to fail.

The main problem with chasing the “BANGER” video is that we cannot be consistent with it.

We need a strategy that enables us to be consistent - a content engine that allows you to keep getting 1% better every day.

If we are only chasing banger videos, we put getting 1% better every day at a massive risk.

The strategy myself and other creators have found the most success with is building a content engine that enables you to consistently create content and sprinkling viral content in throughout.

Creators like StoneMountain64 execute this really well.

His “YOLO ON THE BATTLEFIELD” series is incredibly viral with 10M+ views but it represents about 1% of the content he puts out.

What next?

Now.. what to do about your 448,300 view video? 😜

In this week’s The Creator CEO Podcast, I broke down maximizing a viral video, here’s a snippet:

  1. The strategy is to have our views from the viral content spread to our content library (old and new videos)

  2. We build a content engine that allows us to create consistent content and pursue viral ideas

  3. This gives us the ability to convert some of the views from the viral video into a returning viewers

This is a strategy that many creators use to create step changes in their growth. My hope is that my sharing it helps you think about how to apply it to your content.

You can listen to the full episode on Spotify and Apple!

Looking forward to dropping back in your inbox next week and while viral content isn’t a strategy… I do hope one of your videos pops off this week 😉
